This Special award has been established by the family and friends of Mrs. Judith Bard. Mrs. Bard (nee Fishman/nee Bronstein) graduated from Lower Merion High School and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree at the University of Pennsylvania. She was a beloved fifth grade teacher for 35 years at Gladwyne Elementary School. After teaching at Gladwyne, Mrs. Bard moved to Jupiter, Florida, enjoying good food and travel with family and friends. In May, the first Judy Bard Memorial Teaching Scholarship will be given to a graduating LMSD senior that is planning to pursue a degree in education, and will continue to be given for many years to come.
